Business analyst position(Chapter 1)


What is the business analysis?

Business analysis is the study to compare the present business and making some changes in ongoing business to achieve better goals in the future.

Who is the business analyst?

Business analyst is a person who performs activities related to the business analysis. He/ she is responsible for managing the changes, leading the groups, meeting the requirements and controlling the company. It can be categorized under various job titles, for instance, data analyst, financial analyst, system analyst and so on.

Knowledge Areas

Business analyst should be perfect in the six knowledge areas to manage everything and to provide solutions to the company.

Tasks

These are the actions performed by a business analyst to manage the changes.
It is categorized under various steps;
v Purpose is the reason for why the action should be taken.
v Description provides the details that how the task should be evaluated and achieved.
v Input refers to data or information which is used in the beginning to process the task.
v Elements are not so crucial, but they are needed to process any task too. There is not much difference between elements and inputs.
v Guidelines and tools are required to carry out the tasks in an informative manner. They provide the directions to get the result from inputs and elements.
v Techniques are methods that are used to perform the tasks.
v Stakeholders are the persons who may be connected to that specific task in some way.
v After completing all the steps an outcome is achieved as an output.

Underlying Competencies

These are some qualities that are required to perform the business analysis tasks.
These are also dependent upon three different areas:
v Purpose reflects the reason to have that quality.
v Definition describes the need of which skills are needed.
v Effective measures state the if a person has those competencies or not.

Techniques

These are methods used by business analyst to make and accept the changes in the project.
It also has three perspectives:
v Purpose: the kind of technique to be used
v Description: the way to use the technique
v Elements: needed to get familiar with technique
v Usage Considerations: resultant of technique that is its effectiveness

Perspectives

It helps to establish the concentration to evaluate the tasks and techniques successfully.
It has some specific structure which should be followed to get the effective results.
